A brand new winter music event
Altitude Festival is set to be launched in the charming village of Klosters this coming January 2012. A boutique festival style with a winter wonderland concept will bring chic, contemporary and occasionally slightly crazy entertainment into this pretty Alpine village. Phenomenal live music, hot hot DJ's, cabaret style street performers, the sun (yes our hot-line to the heavens reveals it WILL shine), gourmet food stalls, pop up stores, A list stars and plentiful bars.
In keeping with the spirit of Klosters, a resort favoured by British high society, Altitude’s headline act for will be British pop sensation Duran Duran, a band who have sold just over 80 million records worldwide and are famous fusing pop music, art, technology and fashion with a unique sense of style and confidence. Whilst Princess Diana declared Duran Duran to be her favorite band – a fitting connection to Klosters, the winter resort which is an annual holiday favourite for British royal family members. Duran today are an unstoppable force. Their 13th studio album, entitled ‘All You Need Is Now’ (released March 2011) was written and recorded with Grammy Award-winning producer Mark Ronson.
Opening for Duran Duran are the Swiss pop group Pegasus from Biel whose big breakthrough came when they recently opened for Coldplay at the Stade de Suisse. In 2010, Pegasus won a Swiss Music Award for Best National Newcomer and the band have just released their third album, ‘Human Technology’.
Further live music and entertainment details of Altitude will be released over the forthcoming weeks. This unique winter event is connected to the spectacular sport of snow polo, with the Klosters Snow Polo tournament running alongside it. More details on further live music concerts to come soon!
Alpine Soul Kitchen - the unique pop up bar and club
50's, 60's & 70's Motown party vibes and hearty 'soul food' are the order of the day in the world's first Alpine Soul Kitchen which 'pops up' at Klosters from the 18th until the 22nd January. This unique entertainment venue has been specially designed just for the event, constructed out of a labyrinth of converted shipping containers which will form an indoor bar, club and small restaurant. This unique venue will literally be tumbling out of the snow and right next to the Klosters Snow Polo area and Altitude Festival location, and will see the polo and music event after parties kicking off as soon as the sun sets and carrying on late into the night.
Taking its inspiration from the legendary Motown studios, this unique venue will ensure that Après-Ski in Klosters is changed forever! Legendary UK DJ's Andy Singh (Republic of Music and who has played at British festivals such as Glastonbury and Lovebox) and Andy Mac (ex A&R manager for Skint Records and has released singles on Carl Cox’s Ultimate label) will be laying down the smouldering soul platters whilst celebrated London visual artist Glasshopper accompanies them with exclusive party projections.
If Tina Turner or the Temptations were on the slopes this January then the Alpine Soul Kitchen is surely where you would find them! So come and 'apres ski' in style and share the 'soul' at Alpine Soul Kitchen.
Alpine Soul Kitchen will be at the Altitude Festival from the 18th until the 22nd of January - open each evening from 5pm until late, entrance free except Friday 20th and Saturday 21st when entrance is 20 CHF per person.
